Bless you!! That was it! The PCM volume in KMix was down at the bottom -- and I'd never opened KMix before. Not much being into online music, I saw the icon in the gui but didn't expect to have any use for it personally. Thank You!!!!
I'd love to get some assistance in finding out where my sound went. I have been reading the forum threads about this, but I haven't found the "magic key" to my particular situation. I have KDE and Fedora Core 3. I'm not sure what the sound card is, but it's onboard a Dell workhorse that has never had a problem.
