KDE / X / Fonts at 86 dpi

Hello, I use a screen resolution of 1280x1024 pixel. To have a correct display of sizes (for example in Gimp) I have to set the dpi correct, using the "DisplaySize" parameter in XF86config. The correct monitor setting is 86 dpi. Unfortunately I can't find a font which looks good enough to work with. I tried several TrueTypes, but with a font size of 8 to 10 all just look bad and not really usable. Is there something I can do to get it fixed with 86 dpi or do I have to leave it and continue with ...

Install KDE 3.1 SuSE rpm's on SuSE 8.0

I'am facing the same mess, now. I try to upgrade from KDE 3.0.5 to 3.1.4 on a SuSE 8.0. I downloaded all the rpm's (from SuSE) and tried to install them by rpm -ihv *, rpm -Uhv * and rpm -Fhv (all rpm's in one directory). I got a lot of dependencies and circle dependencies which reach up to kde2-compat further to several applications not related directly to KDE AFAIK. I got rid of some of the circle dependencies but as far as I got now, I'm thinking about deinstalling KDE completely. And I don't...

screen resolution

It's possible that the XF86Config looks a little bit different, because there are several ways to combine the sections. For a good description go to http://www.xfree86.org or use this link: http://www.xfree86.org/current/XF86Config.5.html Andreas

Language selection within KDE

What I meant by "not in KControl" means, that I already set it to German there, but is has no effect. My question is, if there is some other place to setat, because it doesn't work by KControls, YaST and RC_LANG variables. Just to be sure, I'am talking about the logon screen, only. Cheers Andreas

Language selection within KDE

OK, but where can I set the languahe for the logon screen (and I don't mean within kcontrol and if it can be set separately, because after the logon I have the German keyboard)? I played with these RC_LANG variables, but I wasn't very successful.... Andreas

Language selection within KDE

I selected German during the installation. But even if I didn't, I must have to chance to change it later.

Language selection within KDE

Hello, I have some trouble with the language selection within KDE. I have two SuSE 8.0 Professional installations on different hardware. On the first one everything is fine. On the second one I have some problems getting the Keyboard layout right. I configured KDE using the KControl to be for example German. But the logon screen uses an English keyboard layout. For the users, including root the desktop and applications were in German, but the consoles still used an English keyboard. I set RC_LAN...
