gui hardware dependency question

KDE runs fine with 256 MB or more, i guess the CPU is a little slow. You can check this out with "top" on the commandline. Top will tell you how much RAM is used, and how much the CPU is used.

Locking individual folders

An encrypted partition maybe the better way for such things... you can create such a partion in a normal file, and mount it via loopbackdevice. Everytime you try to mount this partion you will have to enter your passphrase. And this single file can be easyly backupd and restored

fat32 drive in windows freshly created not visible in linux

you have to do 2 thing in linux, so it will mount the new partion at first you have to create a mountpoint e.g. mkdir /mnt/windows or something similar, the name dont matter... after this root will be able to mount this partion with mount /dev/hda9 /mnt/windows there /dev/hda9 must be replaced with the correct partioin number on your harddrive and /mnt/windows is your mountpoint to get the partion mouted at every systemboot you need to do the second step: ad a line like this to your /etc/fstab /...

menus gone

This looks like a bug in Mandrake, a friend of mine has the same problem The menus are stored under /usr/share. Mandrake uses applnk-mdk by default, but there are the directorys applnk and applnk-mdk-simplified, too. maybe you can simple copy your menu entrys from these both directories... ( i didnt get feedback from my friend if this works )

Konqueror & Access Rights

Hy Guys, i've got a silly Problem with Konqueror. Each time i move a file from a linuxpartition to a FAT-Partition a Errormessage appears and tells me that Konqui cant keep the Accessrights of the file, and has to change it. Ok, i know he's right with that, cause FAT wont support any Accessrights as ReiserFS does, but is their any way to supress this Errormessage? regards Michael
