How do I keep file dialogs from showing icons next to filenames?

Hello... I've looked all over for the answer to this question, to no avail. Perhaps I don't know some of the keywords to Google for. Here's the situation:

When I save a file (in KWrite, or Konqueror, or any other KDE program), a file dialogue pops up asking what the file name should be. This dialogue box also lists the files in the current directory. Beside each file is an icon showing what type of file it is (text file, directory, image file, etc.)

Unfortunately, some directories have hundreds of files of various types, and it is taking a long time for KDE to analyze them and figure out what type of icon to use.

Could someone please help me figure out how to keep icons from showing up in file dialogues? I would like just the filenames, so that KDE can respond more quickly and I can just save the file without having to wait for it to analyze the files; half the time I already know what filename I want to use and don't want that filename list anyway.

Thanks.
