Programm launcher

Hi,

I got a small problem trying to let kde automatically select the correct application for a given file.

The programm starter of kdesktop (alt+f2) actually does almost do what I want: I can just enter a file url, e.g. a PDF file, and kde automatically opens the file with configured application, in my example acroread.

But actually I want to do this programmatically: I use the java mind mapping tool freemind, where you can link a url to any node. A globaly configured application is then used to open the link, which works fine to view html pages, e.g. with konqueror. But I also want to open the files directly without konqueror, e.g. open office files with open office.

No I wonder if there is some general launcher application available for this task, or maybe some dcop command using kdesktop's functionality?

Thanks in advance,

Michael
