KDE wallpaper config hangs

I have set up Xplanet as a background but now when I try to use the Configure Desktop -> Background control panel it hangs using up all of my CPU cycles. I check K System Guard to see what is running and it reports that kcmshell is using all those cycles. I have looked around and haven't found a clue as to how to fix this. Any advice?
