Changes: Administrator Team and Forum Structure

Two big changes are planned:

1.) Administrator Team

I need maybe one or two guys who can do administration things. So I will maybe choose/ask someone of the moderator team.

The new administrators should have skills in phpBB and maybe in PHP/HTML for administrating the behind and adding some mods to this forum software.

2.) Forum Structure

I'm thinking about changing it to this:

Quoted

KDE Support
Desktop & Application Help
Questions about using the KDE desktop, various applications and office productivity software.
Installation Help
Questions about installing or troubleshooting KDE on your personal computer.
Administration & Deployment Help
Questions about administering and deploying KDE on a medium to large scale.
Miscellaneous
Issues or questions not covered by the above forums.
Tips & Tricks
Share your KDE wisdom with others.

KDE Discussion
General
Discuss general KDE-related matters and news here.
Desktop, Applications & Office
Discuss the KDE desktop, applications and office productivity software here.
Look & Feel
Discuss beautiful applications, look & feel, as well as KDE icons, styles, themes and artwork here.
Off Topic
Non-KDE related discussion.

KDE Development
removed/link to qt-forum.org

Other Forums
You can move other existing forums here if necessary (eg, Games) if they don't fit in the above.

KDE-Forum
News
Feedback

This idea was posted by navindra (dot.kde.org) here (http://www.kde-forum.org/viewtopic.php?t=1550).

What do you think about this structure???

Depending on what you need/want in terms of php/html, I may be able to contribute. I realize my post count is low so it's up to you. If you want to see my phpbb work (as I am currently working on a phpbb portal project) please contact me via email as I'm not at liberty to disclose the URL publicly yet as I don't want visitors visiting my project until at least 85% completed.

My email is amoeba.x@gmail.com

Please note that I have several projects going on so I may not be able to contribute if your requests are too great.

Thanks.

Vacations and shoes

Are you going to let the vacation and shoe salespeople dominate the forum? I feel guilty complaining, because I am able to do so little to support the forum yet, due to my lack of experience, however, it is one of few places for me to solve problems while using the KDE desktop.

Still, now that the above salespeople have taken over the forum, those who are willing to help us newbies, are less willing to wade through the ads to find those in need. I have not gotten successful help in at least a month. It is very frustrating because working blind is sufficiently stressful. Complicate that with those compassionate ones having to deal with such an unreasonable situation to try to help the helpless.

I am embarrassed to say that I am retired and living on appx. $600 per month, with a computer as my only company. I cannot hire the help I need. I hate Microsoft for reasons not worth talking about, and learning Linux is more than a challenge. Without some compassionte assistance, I could not possibly make it. Still, working what turns out to be a simple problem and taking a month or more to get the solution. is a test to patience and would be for anyone.

You might as well pack it in, if you don't do something about this. I am super patient, so I know many of the needy that make your forum necessary have already given up and left. My negative passion for Microsoft will continue for a time, however, all I have to do is remove KDE and I will survive.

Sincerely,
Steven Vollom, fine-artist retired aka. Shabakthanai
