SMB:/ Not working on SuSE9.1

:? I have a new installation of SuSE 9.1 which is available from the Novell Site. When I first installed it, it seems the SMB functions worked but now when I try to access my windows files by entering smb:/<server>/share into the location box, I get en error box that says:
"An error occurred while loading smb://slcjobs/jobs:
Internal Error
Please send a full bug report at http://bugs.kde.org
Unknown error condition in stat: Invalid argument"

If I use the "my computer "icon , select the lan button, and go to the "local Network" I get an error that says:
"Can't find parent item smb:/ in the tree. Internal error."
It appears that I am using version 3.0.2a of the smbclient.
Anybody have any recomendations for me? I have not tried to use the smbclinet from the terminal session so I don't know if that works or not.

thanks
