menus gone

In the process of removing some packages, some of the kde packages got removed as well. I re-installed the kde packages but now the Start menu has most of its menu items gone. No application menus remain. I found a file added_by_menudrake which seems to be a configurations file for the menus as it contains all the entries the menu would normall have. When I open kmenuedit, there is nothing in the Index tab either. Any help would be appreciated. Added_by_menudrake was in the /home/paul/.menu directory.

This looks like a bug in Mandrake, a friend of mine has the same problem :(
The menus are stored under /usr/share. Mandrake uses applnk-mdk by default, but there are the directorys applnk and applnk-mdk-simplified, too. maybe you can simple copy your menu entrys from these both directories... 8)
( i didnt get feedback from my friend if this works )
