Hi

I have just installed RH8.0 and ran up2date for virous updates n fixes.

what I am trying to do now is to get KDE 3.1 to work but having some problems installing it I have done some research and found that best way is to use APT which I have managed to download the files sucessfully however upon during the rpm excution it came up with some errors.

I'm a complete newbie and dont know how to interpret the error so please would someone shed some light on it.

Hi anda,

Ooops.. I wish i saw your reply a little sooner, basically I read from other site about removing conflicting rpms so I did just that.

However, I removed the package gtk+-1.2.10-22 and package gtk2-2.0.6-8 after switching to init 3. Once I have done that I tried switching back to init 5 but it gave me the following error "KDE is trying to spawn too fast must wait for for 5 minutes"

I am assuming that I deleted the wrong files but the question is now I do I rectify my noobie mistake. Is there a way of getting those files I back?

Many thanks in advance...
