non AA fonts in KDE 3.1

Hi!
I recently installed RedHat 9.0 from scratch and now fight with the fonts. I took the MS TTF fonts from my Win2K box and installed them to /usr/share/fonts/ttf-fonts directory, did fc-cache and added the path to font server config.
I did't like the Antialiased fonts so I took away the flag in Control. But what I see now on my screen I don't like even more. The font is MS sans serif. If I compare how it looks in Win2k and here it's just like haven and hell. The size is 8pt and it's ok but it's so edgy...
On the same time when I open Mozilla the fonts on menu just great. I know that they are not TTF, but I like how they look. Can I do something to repare all this?
any suggestions?
