[KOPETE] Daily Timer Plugin idea/feature request

Wishlist for Kopete Features? Plugins?

punchin-punchout plugin

I would love to have a plugin for kopete that resets it's state every day at a configurable time. (like 4am for example)

Then the plugin looks for the first mouse/keyboard activity after that state-reset and starts a timer for a configurable amount of time.
(like 8 hours)

Then when the timer expires it can trigger a sound, popup, or other configurable script. (maybe even create a calendar event showing the start/stop time). This would keep track of my arrival at work in the morning and the time when I stop work each day on my calendar!

This way it would tell me to go home every day after I had worked my "8" hours.

couldn't you use KArm? It comes with the kde-pim package.

You can view the webpage here:

Thanks for the suggestion. I looked at KARM, but KARM is the software equivalent of a stopwatch. It does have the ability to monitor activity on a desktop and accumulate time on that desktop towards a counter,
It doesn't have the ability to trigger a function/script when a certain time period has elapsed, nor does it have the ability to reset the timer every day.

So I couldn't make it reset the stopwatch to zero every morning automatically and I couldn't make it trigger when 8 hours of desktop activity had elapsed for a given day and execute a script.

I thought a "plugin" for Kopete would be cool because I already have kopete open all the time, and because kopete already monitors my "away" status all the time.

I don't think that is a good reason. If you use KDE then it is also running all the time and also monitors your actions to know when to start the screensaver...

This seams more a feature request to KArm or to PTimeTracker

Yeah you are right. I'll try to talk to the KARM or PTIMER people. See what that looks like.
