Kopete KDE Proxy

I have used the Control Center to set my proxy setting and I can browse the web using Konqueror. But...I can not login to MSN, Yahoo, AOL, or Jabber with Kopete. After a long pause I get connection time out messages. I did some checking with netstat and lsof. I notieced that Kopete attempts a directo connection to messenger.hotmail.com.
[code:1]myhost.com:33173->messenger.hotmail.com:1863 (SYN_SENT)[/code:1]
I noticed that when using gaim the connection goes through my proxies.
[code:1]myhost.com:32976->myproxy.com:webcache (ESTABLISHED)[/code:1]
Does Kopete work with proxies or not?

Although the Kopete team says, in several bug reports, that kopete uses KExtendedSocket and therefore should use KDE global proxy settings I think that it really doesn't. I had the same problem and for what I saw it only supports SOCKs server (I din't used it).

My solution was start using GAIM for a while. Hey, don't tell anyone :wink:

GAIM

Yes, I also switched to GAIM (at work).
