Video & Voice on Kopete

I was looking on the Kopete website the other day and noticed it mentioned Kopete was planning to implement voice and video with Netmeeting.

On the roadmap section it mentions something about intergrating it with Gnomemeeting. Does anyone know how close to completion this is? This would be a real breakthrough if the Kopete people could get this to work.

I am assuming that this would work with Windows and MSN Messenger as well and not just Netmeeting. I don’t know anyone that actually uses Netmeeting anymore.

I suppose the most important thing for this feature to be successful is that the end users, by that I mean the Windows Messenger users wouldn’t have to change anything on their PC’s.

I have almost thirty contacts on my Windows Messenger and I can’t expect them to start fiddling around with the settings on their PC’s, some simply wouldn’t know how anyway.

If this could be made to work it would be the coolest thing ever… :)

There's a project called konference. In the comments on kde-apps.org the author offers to support the kopete developers integrating it.
It builds on GnomeMeeting and VideoConference code:

BTW: AFAIK GnomeMeeting doesn't support connections to MSN Messenger (yet) as it uses a different protocol (the one NetMeeting was using, too).
