kmail and IMAP on dialup

Hi, I use kmail 1.5.4 with an IMAP account. I have slow dialup, and I'm not connected very often. Is there a way to have kmail automatically cache all headers AND message bodies on my hardrive, so I can view them offline? Right now, even if I've viewed a message, as soon as I disconnect, it's no longer available. Thanks for the help!!

Setup a message filter that automatically copies all emails in your remote imap inbox to your local inbox each time you log in.

Great idea! Is there any easy way to synchronize the imap folder and the local folder? Also how do I make the filter run every time I connect to my imap server? Thanks for the help!

If im not mistaken, kmail automatically runs its filters everytime you connect. As for synchronizing folders, Im not really sure what you're trying to say.

What I would do is open up kmail and go to tools -> create filter, and create a filter that moves all mail where to=your email adress to the local inbox folder that kamil automatically creates for you. That way everytime you connect it will download all your messages into the inbox folder on your hard drive.

When you use IMAP with a local copy of the folders, you can use them offline. When you get again online, you have to synchronise the local folder with the IMAP folder. Mostly it means downloading the new received emails, uploading the emails that you want to send, remove the emails that you have removed locally...

But as written, KMail of KDE 3.1 cannot do that.

Have a nice day!
