Kopete problems

I'm using MDK 9.2 and I use Kopete to talk to my friends that uses MSN. Tonight I was talking to a friend and muy cable modem went out of synch on me, when this had happen it disconnected me from kopete and now I can connect back up with the MSN network. Yes I can boot into that bane OS windows and use MSN but I won't because everything I do is on my MDK and like it allot better than that other wanna be OS.

How can I fix Kopete so it will connect back up to MSN again? Never had any problems with it until tonight when my modem went out of sync on me.

me too

I can also no longer log into msn. No network problems whatsoever and I haven't changed any settings or otherwise changed my system (suse 9.0). My guess is that MS did something to the protocol again or something equally evil.

well I know if I log in and use BlackBox or something else then Kopete will work for MSN and then when I logoff and get back on my computer later and login into KDE Kopete will work but when I close it down and get off from my computer for the night and the next day login back into KDE I'm back to the same problem with Kopete not logging into MSN network.

Same problem here. In the past 4 or 5 days I have only been able to connect yesterday. Gaim seems to work fine btw with the latest release. Hope it will be fixed soon.

another wm?

I tried kopete under IceWM. Same problem.
Started from a xterm I see this message appear in my terminal when trying to connect to msn in both wm's:
QGArray::find: Index 0 out of range

Connecting to ICQ shows no message

so there's definately an update by M$ and a change is needed by the dev @ Kopete.

Any word?

well I setup Gaim tonight for MSN networks and got protocol not supported. So I think M$ had change the protocols once again. I'm glad that I don't use there OS hardly anymore except for when I need to play a game or two because I haven't checked in on winex yet.

Just an idea: as Kopete 0.7.4 is just a fix for MSN, could it be that this change is mandatory for now on?

Have a nice day!

Gaim still works here (v0.74)

Good the longer version.

As far as I know, the difference between Kopete 0.7.3 and 0.7.4 is only a MSN fix.

See: http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-cvs&m=107023957214643&w=2

So I supposed that this "small" protocol change might be mandatory now.

I hope that I was clearer now.

Have a nice day!

right

0.7.4 has the msn-fix. Which also happens to be the version I'm using, but which will no longer let me connect to msn. Another poster is also problems under KDE, but can connect under another WM. So, I don't think the problem lies with MS.

I think it does. Every kopete =<0.7.3 is unable to connect with MSN. (btw. from The Netherlands?)

euhm...I'm using kopete 0.74 and don't have any troubles(for the moment) to connect to the msn network. I've had them before and changing one of my msn contacts to another group before connecting solved the problem then. But the last week i don't seem to have any problems anymore. :)

As I said, the pre 0.7.4 msn problem is known and solved. 0.7.4 does not have this problem and I'm using 0.7.4. Also I again tried another wm. This time before I started kde and, suprise, suprise, kopete connected to msn. After exiting icewm I got back into kdm and tried to go to kde. Which did not work until I killed a hanging kdinit. Finally back in kde I tried kopete again, but could not get it to connect to msn.

and yes I'm a dutchie

Then the best would be perhaps to forward the problem to the Kopete developers, perhaps by using KDE Bugs.

Have a nice day!
