Kopete keeps crashing ...

Kopete 0.7.4 on a Gentoo Box with KDE 3.1.4 keeps crashing when I type messages. It just quits completely. Very annoying. Has anyone seen this behaviour?

My CPU monitor shows a lot of activity when I type a message, which is weird since a TextEdit should hardly use any CPU at all, just look at other editors.
