Re: KDE won't run - Please Help

Hi There,

I am a Linux newbie running YDL 2.3 on a 700Mhz iBook.
The installation seemed to be okay and went smoothly.

Unfortunately I'm having trouble getting KDE to startup as my window manager due to some sort of network connection error. This is the message I get:

Could not read network connection list.
home/jinty/.DCOPserver_my computer name_0
please check that the "dcopserver" program is running.

The weird thing is that when I startup GNOME instead I get a similar error:

Could not look up internet address for "my computer name" This will prevent GNOME from operating correctly. It may be possible to correct the problem by adding "my computer name" to the file /etc/hosts.

GNOME does actually startup anyway (or else I wouldn't be typing this) but when I check the ethernet setup my computer name is listed and my connection is active with the DHCP server providing my IP address.

Can anyone help me with this problem as I'd really love to try out KDE  and I don't know my way about this new operating system yet.
Thanks a million,
Janet

RE: KDE won't run

I managed to get KDE to run successfully after a bit of tweaking so I'm really happy now :D
