Mozilla and Netscape profiles

I'm sure I'm not the only person who thinks this is a royal pain in the ass...is there any way to turn off the user profiles feature in Netscape 7.1 or Mozilla 1.5? It's really annoying, as I use bookmarks and my history like it's going out of style...
