Samba and Konqueror (is it possible?)

Need help here, and I am a newbie. I am having trouble accessing my Windows machine with Konqueror. I can access my windows box in GNOME using Nautilus no problem. I can also print from KDE and GNOME. I can access my Linux shares from my Windows box. But when I try to access my Windows computer with Konquerer (I prefer to use KDE) I am able to see my C drive but cannot access it. Is there any other way to browse my network in KDE?

I may not be doing something correctly but I cannot install that program. I have RH 8.0 and the only RPM is for Mandrake. I also tried the tar file but when I ran the ./configure command I ran into errors.

Is there any other way to browse smb shares within KDE?

KDE uses LISA.
You can configure LISA from the control center, then start the lisa deamon. The lan:// will work on konqueror.

Or you can use the smb:// protocol in konqueror but it really slow during file transfert. Don't know why.

as long as you have samba(-client) (you might need the konqueror plugins too) and its libraries on your box you will be able to surf your network, i find LISA a waste of resources sometimes and a security hazard waiting to happen, instead try linneighborhood to view your network computers.

LinNeighborhood worked like a charm, thanks :D

Samba + Konqueror = 0wnership problems when surfing Windows

Heya peeps, Im having a enormous problem here:

I want to connect a a Windows machine (surf it), but for EVERY file I have to enter a username/password. The problem is, THERE ARE NONE, no password and no username. I should have free-acces to the machine (I can from other Windows machines).

What samba tries to do is claim ownership over every file (I can see it in the list after I said ok for the thousanth time:

But what catches my eyes as well is this screen:

While normally the screen is:

note: the ":" is added automatically after pressing enter a couple of times, even when all is blank it doesn't work

Could somebody help me out please, its really annoying to have to press enter 20,000x when I open a folder.....

Note: I can mount directories without any problem with smbmount (and it does accept a no username/pass). I use konqueror by doing smb://192.168.0.39/

Thank you
