Konqueror won't open html documents

After installing kde3.1.1.a from source everything was good for about a week until I chose to open some HTML documents in Kate and told kde to remember the file association. Now konqueror won't open web pages, instead prompting me to open them or save them to disk.

I used the File Associations manager to change the default application for documents of type text/html back to Konqueror. Now I get the following error message when I try to open web pages:

"There appears to be a configuration error. You have associated Konqueror with text/html but it can't handle this file type."

Can't be good...

Check the embedded settings for text/html
It should be set to "show in embedded viewer" and KHTML should be the top choice.

Another way would be to right click on a local html file, selecting "open with", select konqueror and make sure to select the "remember association" box
