[KMAIL] How to start Kmail minimized to icon in tray

Hi all,
I'm just looking for the way how to start kmail minimized to icon in tray.
Since now I have been using a combination kbiff as mail checker and kmail as mail client. But there is a possibility in kde 3.2.+ to minimize kmail to icon in tray so kbiff is not necessary if I would be able to start kmail automatically minimized to tray during KDE startup.

It would be very nice too if when clicking on minimize button (or close button) on Kmail window Kmail miminizes itself in tray not in taskbar. The same behaviour as Kopete or Total Commander in Windows.

Thanks for any suggestion.

Regards
Petr

Have you tried clicking the icon in tray? It works for me. And why only kmail, why not kontact? :)

Yes, I know about this feature. It works for me too but it seems to me a little bit uncomfortable. OK, it was only a suggestion with this minimize and close buttons.
The main problem is how to start kmail automatically minimized in tray.

And about kontact? Well, I don't like these big apps because the only thing I need is to write email. I don't need organizer, notes etc. And I also think that kontact is slower than only kmail, isn't it?

For me that clicking an icon in system tray in order to minimize it feels comfortable, but hey, I have system tray in upper right corner. And this IMHO is what makes KDE great, you can configure your desktop to function exactly the way you want.

I think all your feature requests are only matter of implementing those features into the kmail, since they are already found in the other applications such as kopete as you mentioned. So in time they will be there :)

I would also like to see those features in kmail and agree that it would be nice to kmail start minimized in tray.

Fair enough, if you don't need other applications in kontact there is no reason for you to use it.
About the speed difference, I really don't see any significant speed difference between kmail and kontact on this 1GHz amd/256Mb I am using.

But is it possible to compile kontact without these apps? I'm using Gentoo Linux so I have compiled the only apps from KDE I really need.

If you don't build those other applications at all, would that make kontact have only kmail? But after that kontact would be kmail. :)

I haven't compiled kontact myself, so I don't know the configure options, if you decide to compile kontact let me know the results.

I've just compiled kdepim with kontact, kadressbook, kmail and knode. Kontact is working but has some problems:
1) there are buttons for nonexistent applications (korganizer, etc.)
2) there isn't knode - I've think that there should be.

So, I'll compile kdepim again without kontact ;-)
