Spellchecking

I've searched for information on this, but haven't been able to find any specific to the problem I am having. There does seem to be an issue with some Beta versions, but I'm not using any Betas.

I'm using Kmail V. 1.5.4 and KWord 1.2.1. I cannot get any spellchecking. Instead, I get the error message, "ISpell/Aspell could not be started. Please make sure you have ISpell or Aspell properly configured and in your PATH."

Well, I do have aspell, and it is in my path (/usr/bin/aspell). I have no problem running aspell from the command line.
aspell --version
@(#) International Ispell Version 3.1.20 (but really Aspell 0.50.4.1)

The only thing I can think of that might be different is that this is from a ximian version of aspell:

rpm -qa |grep spell
aspell-compat-0.33.7.1-0.ximian.6.4
aspell-0.50.4.1-0.ximian.6.1

But surely that shouldn't make a difference, should it?

Any thoughts or ideas?

Laura

 Doh. Ok, I know I'm blonde.. but.. I guess it helps to have some dictionaries installed. I have no idea how they got uninstalled.

Ignore my earlier plea for help.
