Koffice and kgamma install on KDE 3.1

Newbie Here.

I am running Debian Woody. I upgraded to KDE 3.1 last night. I tried to install Kgamma using dselect, and when I select it, it tries to remove a bunch of the files associated with KDE 3.1 because of conflicts (such as kdelibs4). I'm having the same problem with Koffice. Has anybody had this problem? Are there work arounds?

Here are some things that I was thinking of trying.

1) Leave the files installed even though it says there is a conflict.
2) Install KDE 3.0 instead.
