Some problems with some MP3's

OK I have these MP3's that I got of an online music store that encodes them how ever you want them.....I chose 192 Variable Bit Rate but the meta info says that they are 128. But in windows it says that they are like 590 or something like that. And not only that but KDE reports the lengh of the songs as being longer then they are....like for instance one song both the meta info and amaroK both say that it is 5:49 long but it's actually only 3:54......so my question is, is this a problem with the MP3's them self or does it have something to do with them being VBR?
