Cannot view jpegs

I have lost the abilityto view jpegs with any KDE applications, including as backgrounds to my desktop. I have located a library libjpeg62 in my /usr/shr/doc folder. Is there a configuration file I need to update to show the path to this library file, or another one that gives jpeg functionality?

My distro is Xandros 2.0
