How can I disable aRts at startup?

Hi everybody,
I had some problems with the OSS and Alsa drivers, on kernel 2.6.x and I came to the conclusion that aRts was the only problem. In fact, I've disabled aRts on the KDE configuration center but, when I start KDE, It's still running: I've got some delay with the sound , and, when I turn it on and off on the KDE CC, everything goes ok. I'd like to know how can I disable It at startup
Thanks in advance

Hi everybody, I had some problems with the OSS

I've also had problems with artsd... I do NOT know if this solved them or they gone when I extirpated Windoze from my computer...

1) from any console: "killall artsd" if the problem rises...
2) from kcontrol -> Sound Multimedia -> Sound System -> Tab-General: Autosuspend if idle... 1 second...

I do not have any problem now, but I know that this way of problem-solving is quite an Windoze-way-of-life heritage!

Bye,
Pietro
