acer 640u scanner

hi,
I am a nubie. i have installed man9.0 and have a problem with my scanner. it is a acer 640u. I have seen articles telling me which .bin file to use on the scanner cd but i can't seem to install it or get the scanner recognised by xsane. can some one give me a step by step how to please. Thanks talus :?

as for me, I have a HP scanjet 3570c, but it's not yet supported in linux. :(
