KDE Debian problem language

kde comes up in english

user
however it comes up in german--i cannot read/understand germain
how can i configure the user so kde comesup in english

really frustrated on this one
googling/ homework to no avail

You did not state your distro and how you installed it. There normally is a reason if you get German as language. :-)
Maybe you selected German during the installation or used a distro targeting a German audience that just defaults to German.


I think you have two options:

1.) Log into your distro's config tool and change the default language to English if it is set to German. Delete the user you have including his home directory and create a new one.

2.) Try to change the language of the existing user:
Type [Alt]-F2 kcontrol
-> "Regionaleinstellungen & Zugangshilfen"
-> "Land/Region & Sprache"
Change the language to English there (remove the entry "Deutsch").
Log out and back in

Type [Alt]-F2 kcmshell language

This gets you directly to the language config dialog.
