kde update to 3.2.92

I am using a mandrake 10 desktop with 3.2 kde. I just updated to the 3.2.92 version and have some problems. At the beginning of the download and installation, the installer indicated that open office would have to be removed due to conflicts. I ok'd, thinking that i would reload the oo update also after the kde update. When i attempted to install oo, there were conflicts with the oo .desktop files and the kde common libs files and oo could not be installed. I also could not get the "system configuration" icon to work on the desktop or started from the command line. The location indicated for this link is /usr/sbin/drakconfig. If I use konqueror-su, I can open the file at /usr/share/applinks/configureyour system.desktop. I'm not sure what is going on the .desktop files. The other problems seem to be display issues. I am using xfree86. I indicated this on the dependency menu when asked if xorg or xfree was used. The fonts are light and broken also. The popup menus that appear when starting a application are not sized to show the option buttons and I cannot resize the windows. I noticed that a X11 file had been added to the /bin directory. I would appreciate any help on these issues. I probably have missed something along the way and need some direction on getting straightened out.
Thanks
John

I cannot comment on your problem, but I was asking myself why you want to upgrade to 3.2.92. This version is not necessarily stable as it's a pre-release version of KDE 3.3.0. Today the shiny new 3.3.1 has been released: http://dot.kde.org/1097642862/

Re: kde update to 3.2.92

I loaded the 3.2.92 as it was the latest rpm listed for MD 10. I am still new to linux and have stayed with the mandrake rpms. 3.3.1 would be great if I could get it to work with present setup.

I cannot guarantee, of course, that it will make your problem go away (and I can hardly help because I've never run Mandrake). But I just thought it would be a good idea to use the current, stable version when you're going through the hassles of upgrading anyway.
