Opened screens all over the show !!!

I have a 4 screen pager on my KDE 3.2 taskbar but whenever I'm in screen 1 and open my home folder, it opens in say screen 3. This happens with great regularity with various screens going elsewhere.
I tried not using pager and opened Firefox but nothing showed. When I ran pager again, Firefox was sitting waiting on screen 3.
Any ideas ?
