kde tries to open apps 2 times instead of one

If I try to open a program from the panel by clicking the program icon, he seems to try to open most (but not all) of them twice! Once the program is loaded and I can work with it, the mouse still has the "opening this program"-icon and there's a second tab in the taskbar. After 20-40 seconds this goes away.

This also happens if I try to open a link in kmail with opera... He then opens a new tab in my browser, but also tries to open a new opera program. (and if I use the same command I've told kde to use, from the command line, he does not try to create a new opera instance)

Any ideas on what's going on? I'm using kde 3.2.3 but he's been having this problem for months, always using the latest version of kde at that time. I'm using the 'vanilla' kde on arch linux, so not some modified version.

Perhaps KDE is set to single-clicking and you're double-clicking?

nope, that's not it - and as I said, not all programs do this! eg xmms, konqueror, amsn are opened only once
