Favorite distro

I started with Redhat, then SuSE, then Mandrake, then Slackware then Knoppix, then Dedian, then Gentoo, the FreeBSD, and some other distro's and finaly stoped at Slackware with swaret and checkinstall.
Swaret does about the same thing as apt-get, and with checkinstall i can compile wathever i want and have it installed as a package (checkinstall works also for deb and rpm).
What i do like about this config is that it is easy to keep my system up to date and compile wathever i want. This is also the great thing about Slackware, whatever you give it to it will compile.

Slackware 9.1, because the university is using Solaris 9 and no more *mdk.rpm.

actually

I don't want to talk about Distros cause I hate all of them ;)

Everytime I have to search for a special packed version or compile by myself... why can't them begin to be compatible and a step till Linux at Desktops is done...

... so I am changing Distros often :?

I have been using slackware for the past year or so. It's simple and fast, and gets the job done. Tried other distros, didn't quite like them though i stuck with debian for a year.

i use kurumin 2.10 (based on knoppix) because have native support for winmodem, the download time is short (180 mb) and is complettely in brazillian portuguese. :D
others distros that i tried don't have total compatibility to my hardware...

I recently downloaded 3 mandrake 10.0 community iso's, and they didnt even work... The first CD wouldnt boot, but the 2nd one would - and then i had to put the first cd back in to install, and then it refused to install any of the packages!!!!

It drove me nuts! Luckily i had backup up everything, and now im back to mdk9.2 (which is excellent) and i just had to spend 3 days recomiling kde3.2.1...
