Konsole Errors When Using Su

I have tried google searching and cannot find the answer to solve my su errors when using konsole. When I use konsole to "su - root", I get errors when I open a application. The following shows the errors when I typed kedit and also what occurs when I close kedit down.

I am using a Gentoo system with KDE-3.2.0_rc1

I wouldn't think that I'm the only one getting these errors. What do I need to do to solve these errors? I've tried logging in as root and deleting the temporary files so they would be recreated. That didn't solve it.
