Manual Startup works - Automated not ?!

Hello,

i have always the same problem with kde-apps (namely k3b and konqueror which i use): When is start them from a normal xterm, no problem.
But when i start them with "Exec" (from my Windowmaker-menu) i shortly see a glimpse of the app (konq or k3b) and soon after that a short glimpse of the kde-crash-app and then nothing more.

I'd blame it on my windowmaker, but yesterday i wanted to try out kde3.2 with konstrukt, compiled it and wanted to start it with the correct exports and "startkde" in my .xinitrc
I got the same problem: While seeing the splash-screen of kde3.2, i can see 2 or 3 short glimpses on the kde-crash-app (dont know what exactly crashes), but kde-desktop comes up "normaly". but as soon as i klick into the kpanel, kpanel crashes and restarts itself....

Is this a known issue? There MUST be a (easy?) solution, because when is start stuff within an xterm, everything is perfect ?!
