startkde problem

I have a problem with my KDE 3.1.4 installation (RH7.3) and I would greatly appreciate any help. Although KDE worked fine for a week or so, I started getting the following error on startup:

$> startkde
X Error of failed request: 86
Major opcode of failed request: 51 (X_SetFontPath)
Serial number of failed request: 8
Current serial number in output stream: 10
X Error of failed request: 86

startkde: Starting up...
DCOP aborting call from 'anonymous-23228' to 'kded'
ERROR: Communication problem with kded, it probably crashed.
DCOP aborting call from 'anonymous-23231' to 'knotify'
ERROR: Communication problem with knotify, it probably crashed.
startkde: Shutting down...
KLauncher: Exiting on signal 1
startkde: Running shutdown scripts...
startkde: Done.

I cleaned my home directory numerous times from kde files and started KDE again but the problem persists. I had to revert back to KDE 3.1.3 which works fine. Any help would be appreciated since I couldn't find anything useful on google for this issue.

Thanks...

*Without* KDE running, delete the KDE files in /tmp (there are in the form /tmp/something-username), and in the home directory of the user the files staring with .DCOP and .ICE.

This should be enough.

Have a nice day!

problem persists...

The suggestion of erasing all the files from /tmp and the .DCOP files etc.
didn't work... any other ideas???

thanks...

p.s. Happy New Year to everyone...
