Rename Desktop Icons

I am very new to this and I have yet to be able to change the name that KDE gave my floppy and CD drive. They are very long names that include the unmont in them. I would like to shorten them to just Floppy and CD, but when I right click and goto properties and and try to change the name located under the General Tab it tells me it can't. Is there another way or do I need some type of hack to make this work. Running Mandrake 9.1 on Gateway M500B notebook 2.4 P4 512 ram

Thanks in advance

right click on the desktop, click on "Configure desktop" and go to the Behaviour tab.

from there, uncheck the text box which says "Display devices on desktop".

now make your own icons which point to the devices which you want on your desktop.

Do this by ::
- Right click on the destktop > Create New > Hard Disk/ CD Rom, Floppy
- Name it, and grab an icon for it if you would like a different one
- Click on the Device Tab, and select the Device which you would like to point to. It should be straight forward enough
- Repeat the above steps for other Hard Disks, CD roms or Floppies.

Renaming Devices

Ok. I got my SD Card Reader changed and over but I can't get my floppy or cdrom to change. When I follow the above directions and get to the Device tab the floppy and cdrom are not listed on the pull down menu and when I try to add them as /mnt/floppy I get a error that say root can only do this. What am I doing wrong.

I will admit that out of my 2 weeks of playing with Mandarke I like it.

Thanks

Rename

Yes, I can use my floppy and cdrom. I just can't rename then. The steps that I recived worked fine for elements that were not already named by Linux/KDE. Itis when I want to change the name of the floppy or cdrom is where I have problems. When I try to create a new icon and then goto the device tab the floppy or cdrom are not there. The only things listed are my (win c drive, win c2, / and swap) just for referance win c2 is my SD Card.

My floppy and cdrom right now are named

CD-ROM
mounted at /
mnt/cdrom

Floppy
mounted at/
mnt/floppy

I would like to get rid of the "mounted at/ mnt/cdrom" stuff

Thanks again
