Can't start KDE? Can't run dcopserver?--help!!

Can't start KDE? Can't run dcopserver?--help!!

While the RH9.0 KDE Splash Screen is flashing the, "Setting up interprocess communication" icon, an error appear:
Could not read network connection list.
/root/.DCOPserver_xl_0
Please check that the "dcopserver" program is running!

Removing /tmp/.ICE_unix directory and the ~/.DCOPserver* did not work for me.

Please--help me!

first of all i think that you try to start kde as root which is not a good idea. does the same problem occurs when you start it as a normal user?

I have the same problem witn freebsd 4.7

I think that kdeinit process require the dcopserver to start
but it can not .Is there any way to configure kdeinit and it do
not requrie dcopserver.

The reason I asked is because if it was after the upgrade, What may have happened is that you overwrote the default path rather then appending to it.

When a user login, DCOPserver is run which then runs `iceauth' using the user's PATH. The path to `iceauth' is /usr/X11R6/bin, which may not be in the user's PATH statement, hence the DCOPserver error. Try to correct your PATH statement, it may fix the DCOPserver issue.

Could you explain how do I fix the PATH ?
