Keyboard layout switching problem SK-US

Hello,

I want to switch between Slovak and English keyboard layout. I am using RH 9 and KDE 3.1.2.

In Start/System settings/Keyboard I have set U.S.English, because I want to have US layout default. Then I started Keyboard Layout - KDE Control Module and set:
Enable keyboard layouts - yes
Keyboard model - Generic 101-key PC
Primary layout - U.S. English
Primary variant - generic101
Additional layout - I checked Slovak only
Switching policy - Application
Advanced/xkb Options - nothing selected

Now, the problem is, that when I switch keyboard to Slovak, it is writing Slovak, but then, whet I switch back to US, it writes still Slovak and cant be changed to US anymore. Only after Start/System sett/Keyboard when I change to some keyboard and then US English again, and submit, Then I am writing English, until I switch it with KDE Keyboard Tool.

Can somebody advise me, what to do with it? I need both of the layouts.

Thanks, Martin

Had same problem using Mandrake 9.1

Here is the solution I used. Though it isn't a full solution and it was on Mandrake and not RH, perhaps you can adapt it to RH.

My keyboard was stuck on Hebrew and even when i changed the flag to American i wrote only in Hebrew. What i did was this.
1. In the KDE Control center. I went to the 'Keyboard Layout' page under 'Accessibility' and disabled keyboard layouts.
(At this point I had to log out and in in order to type my password in the next step)
2. I then went to the Mandrake Control Center --> Hardware --> KeyboardDrake and chose 'Israeli' as my keyboard layout and then 'Alt and Shift' to change languages.

Though I now can't change the language by clicking on the flag i can using Alt-Shift (When in Hebrew the Scroll light on the keyboard turns on)
