Password error message in KDE

I have installed the latest RedHat beta with KDE 3.1 - and everything works smoothly. Suddenly, however, I get an error message box saying that my user passord is incorrect, but by pressing Enter I still get in and there is business as usual. At console login, there is no such error message, and everything seems, as I say, to work as if there were no problem.
I have checked the RedHat GUI user/password dialogue box and everything seems fine.
Can someone give me a clue? :?

Hi,
as you are using a beta perhaps you have discovered a bug?
What happends if you type in a wrong password?
Tyr serching at the RH Bug Database. Perhaps this bug is already known. Otherwise you should consider writing a bug report.

What puzzles me is that if I delete myself as a user - and reinstall myself in an new /home/~ folder, everything is back to normal. No false error message. And, as I said, there was no error message when logging in on the outside of X and KDE. So I still wonder ... :?
Thank you anyway! :)
