KDE 3.1 problems w/ src install on RH8

Hello All....
Yesterday I just finished downloading kde 3.1 on my linux box... I've downloaded the source code so that I could install on Red Hat 8 since I couldn't find the rpms files. But heres my problem, I got the arts-1.1 file installed in /usr/local/kde/arts-1-1, but next I go to install the kdelib files, and I do ./configure and it works fine, but when I do make it comes up with the following:

make[1]: *** [kiconloader.lo] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/kde/kdelibs-3.1/kdecore'
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

Can anybody tell me how to fix this error so I can finish installing KDE on my box at home. Thanks for any help.

..just an observation

Hi!
I'm trying to build kde 3.1 on source myself
I can't tell you where's the error but i'd like to point one thing:
I've currently installed arts and kdelibs from source but arts doesn't go to /usr/local/kde/arts1-1
on my machine. I think it only installs several libarts* files on /usr/local/kde/lib.
Don't know what else to say...look at the ./configure options and see if anyone could be useful for you

I hope you achieve it!

dev files

Hi,

often you need the dev packages of the libs.

Maybe there porblems with KDE and RedHat. RedHat do't support KDE well :(
