Configuring KMail for gmail accounts

HI KDE-ers,

I'm very new to KDE and somewhat new to Linux as well.
Right now I'm using Thunderbird as an email client. I was thinking of using KMail to get the best integration with KDE desktop, but I could not get the damn accounts configured correctly in KMail. I read 3 gmail accounts and a few others.

So now I'm back to Thunderbird. I thought about using Claws mail but at this moment I don't have any more energy to toy with mail clients.
What I'm wondering is whether the GMail accounts can be made to work in KMail, and whether it's worth it?

Is the integration with the desktop environment good enough to make it worth my trouble?

Thx,
Chris
