Marble Offline Maps

Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is the right forum. If not, I'm sorry.
I'm very new to this marble and Openstreemaps and not sure if I understood all right...

So the marble application works really great for me when using maps from the online servers.

As the title says, I'm trying to use Marble with offline maps like the osm-files from Openstreetmap. But I don't know how to inlcude them to marble. Is it possible? Is there an additional plugin?

Is it possible to render the osm files offline (e.g. with mapnik) as soon they are needed from marble?

So what I want is to use marble complety offline, without using the marble map-cache...

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

Please ask all Marble related questions on the Marble mailing list (marble-devel@kde.org) since this is the best place to get qualified answers. Otherwise we might just miss your question. :-)

Currently there are no plans to integrate Mapnik with Marble.

We do however have plans to render .osm as vector graphics natively using Marble. Depending on development-involvement that might take a while however.

Best Regards,

Torsten

Hi Torsten,

thanks for your reply. My next question I will ask on the mailing list ;)

Ok, than I don't have to search further for it.

It's good to hear that there are plans to integrate it.

Again thx.
