Nepomuk Data Storage Error

I have just installed openSuse11.3 using a network installation, formatting and doing a new install on / but leaving existing home intact on separate partition. I now get a persistent error message "Nepomuk was not able to find configured database backend 'redland'. Existing data can thus not be accessed....

Have read up a few threads on this and similar problems but still cannot fix things. Can somebody please advise? FYI there are no important data in the ~/redland/*db files so I could remove them but there are also errors showing on Akonadi setup relating to mysql not being found, although it is installed.
Out of my depth here. Please help!
Regards,
Budgie2
