Question About KDE Taskbar Configuration

Hi all,

I'm new to KDE (but I already prefer it over GNOME), and I was wondering: Is there a way to configure the taskbar such that windows are placed next to each other horizontally (in a row) instead of vertically (in columns)?

I've spent a good half hour perusing through all the panel configuration options and I can't seem to find anything.

Thanks,
Rob

Not entirely sure what you mean. My observations in the years I have been using KDE are that entries for windows are displayed in the taskbar both horizontally and vertically depending on the available space. I.e. if there is space to display entries for two windows vertically and you open four windows, they'll be displayed as a 2x2 grid. If you want only a horizontal list the only way I can think to achieve this would be to adjust the size of the panel so that there is not large enough to allow more than one entry to be displayed in the vertical dimension, e.g. by setting it to 'Tiny' or 'Small'.

My question is somehow related to the one of the original poster. Is it possible to arrange the columns of the apps that show up in the taskbar so that there are separate columns for each desktop?

In the taskbar options there is an option to arrange apps per Desktop: i.e. Apps from Desktop 1 appear first, then those of Desktop 2, etc.
But they appear one after the other. I would like to have something like this:

is it possible?

EDIT: a problem would arise if one has too many windows in a single Desktop. The taskbar should be smart enough to make a Desktop span over more than one column when needed. Also, if one is using only two desktops, only two columns should appear in the taskbar
