Shortcuts doesn't work in KDE4

I installed KDE4 and it runs fine, but when i try to use any of the shortcuts, they doesn't work.

I've looked in System Settings > Keyboard and Mouse, and the shortcuts are all there.

Using shortcuts of KDE3-apps, like Amarok, does works.
What's wrong?

I'm not going to start to get over my initial resentment of KDE4 until I get my keyboard shortcuts back. Is there something wrong with my install. It looks like the available keyboard shortcuts hae been drastically scaled back, and the choices don't make a lot of sense to me. "Switch to next desktop is gone", but switch to desktop, 1, 2, 3, 4 are still there instead. What the hell?

I figured out a way to add some custom keybindings, (input actions), which helps, but ccording to the menu this a KDE3 feature. I'm wondering if it'll be around when I install the next version of suse. And I still want keybindings to switch to next and to previous desktop.
