Introduction + Create a default configuration for all users?

Hi,

I'm an Austrian sysadmin living in Montpezat (South France), and new to this forum. I'm currently in charge of eleven small town halls and public libraries, and my job consists of migrating all machines (server and desktop) from Windows to Linux. I'm mainly using Slackware 12.0 with KDE for the job. Until recently, I used CentOS 5.0 with GNOME (or XFCE on older hardware), but I gave KDE 3.5 a go and like it very much.

I wonder how I can correctly duplicate a custom user configuration. I experimented a bit, and found out that my config files seem to be in ~/.kde/share/config. (To duplicate a user configuration in XFCE, I just had to copy ~/.config recursively to /etc/skel).

Q: Would the correct way of creating a custom user config consist in copying ~/.kde/share/config recursively over to /etc/skel? I only want desktop-specific config files (things like colors, fonts, background images, etcetera). But I don't want machine-specific things copied over (e. g. hostname or the likes).

any suggestions?

AFAIK your suggested solution should work perfectly - your post is a couple of weeks old, has it worked as advertised?
