black lines in menus

I tried a search with no luck. Perhaps it's too early in the morning to think of a successful string. :) And because pictures speak 1000 words, I'm pasting it here. Has anyone encountered this problem (see the attached file)?

Looks like your colours got srewed up somewhere along the line. Go into the control centre (I am on a German installation at the mo, not sure what the individual items are called in English I am afraid).

Go to Appearance and select colours.

On the right you will see what your typical window should look like. You will also see the black bar over the selected text somewhere in the top left of that example window. Click on this black bar and now move your mouse to the colour selector in the middle right. Select a lighter shade of grey and everything should be hunky dory!

This seems to be Firefox only issue (or perhaps in some other program I haven't noticed yet). It works fine and dandy in KDE... Perhaps I need to move to another forum. :)
