klaptop standby suspend hibernate question

I would like to know if there is any way to control which script is run when klaptop is configured to suspend, etc. The reason I ask is that my laptop (Dell Inspiron 4000) has an ATI Rage Mobility video card, and when klaptop does its suspend, the LCD monitor backlight won't shut off (it goes white). There is a C program called radeontool that will successfully shut off the LCD backlight, but it must be called from a script registered under /etc/acpi/events/. If I could make klaptop run this same script, then I could let klaptop suspend (etc.) my computer.
