my screen resolution wont work right

ok my screen resolution is 640x480,unless someone who knew what they was doing sent me step by step instructions on how to do this then i would most likely jack my computer to no end. will somebody please help me. im tired of having my screen be super big with no side-scroll. (its been like that for a week) my graphics card is a Intel graphics media accelerator x3000.
Alt + F2 then displayconfig
i tried this but it only brought up a thing that wouldn't let me change my resolution anyways.
the way it got jacked in the first place was that my moniter wanted me to change my screen resolution up higher then the computer would let it and i clicked on the wrong thing (made the resolution crappier rather then better)
so if anyone knows what driver I'm supposed to find, what to do with it or whatever. please help cause i'm needing it.
